Postcard from Lake Nockamixon

Lake Nockamixon

Greetings from Lake Nockamixon! It’s hard to believe that such a peaceful place exists within just an hour-and-a-half’s drive of New York City and Philadelphia (not to mention several other medium-large towns like Allentown, Trenton, Newark, and the like). No WiFi, no television or radio, no social engagements; just a cabin in the woods where we cook most of our meals outside and fall asleep in perfect darkness to the whir of cicadas.

We’re really enjoying the simplicity of Lake Nockamixon. Lots of reading books, playing Monopoly, and taking naps. Day trips to the swimming pool and the historic sites in downtown Philadelphia have kept the kids from getting bored. Mostly, though, we’ve just been relaxing. It’s what a vacation should be!
