A friend recently joked that “one of the key parts of training for a marathon is boring everyone else by talking about training for a marathon.” So here I am, doing just that.
This morning my training partners and I ran more than 20 miles, covering five different cites (Kent, Stow, Munroe Falls, Cuyahoga Falls, and Tallmadge) in two different counties (Portage County and Summit County). Even though I feel totally exhausted in the aftermath, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment.
We’ve now reached the peak of our training program — logging a total of 40+ miles this week — and now our workouts begin to taper over the next three weeks until the Canton Hall of Fame City Challenge Marathon on the 8th of September.
We have not, however, reached the “summit” in terms of our fund-raising goal for International Justice Mission. Please consider helping out with our Running for Freedom Campaign, if you haven’t already given. Even a small gift of $5 is much appreciated. It is, after all, not a sprint but a marathon.
