ManMakers 2013

ManMakers Kent Men

What a weekend! Friday and Saturday, a group of about 30 men from h2o Kent traveled 3.5 hours to the Dayton area for a conference with another 250 men from various collegiate churches throughout the region (Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Toledo, Pittsburgh, and Ohio State). The event was called ManMakers, and it was a mighty-powerful experience with some powerfully mighty men.

I have to confess that I wasn’t entirely looking forward to the experience since it involved a long drive, poor sleep, hard work in keeping the masses of masculinity fed (h2o Kent was responsible for food preparation)… and honestly, it felt like we’d be covering a lot of familiar territory, topically-speaking.

The event was a lot more worshipful than I thought it would be, though. In addition, I was very encouraged to see the level of community and┬ácamaraderie┬áthat was formed in an experience like this. Also to observe the ways that h2o has grown through the years — seeing how my last ManMakers would have been back in 2002, when the total group would have numbered something like two dozen… I came away from the weekend with a fresh sense of encouragement for everything that God is doing in the lives of these men.
