From time to time, I use this space to point out a particular satellite of the blogosphere which has recently caught my attention... If you haven't read my brother Jay's post on the decapitation of roadkill, well, you simply must take a look.  Here's a quote from the story:

...After 2 or 3 whacks with my ax, which turned out to be fairly dull and fell with muffled, heavy thuds, I was forced to cut through fur, skin, fat, muscle and connective tissue with a utility knife. Fun. The coup de gras was the ax smashing through the bone of the spinal column with a moist crack....
